The League Play Offs!

                                                                 The League Play Off!

On Tuesday 18th June, Greenfields girls competed in the football League Play Offs. There were four teams but unfortunately, one of the teams dropped out so our B team Greenfields girls stepped in. Greenfields B team were in a black kit and the A team wore white! The first match, the A team won 3 nil and the B team lost 1 nil. Second match, both Greenfields teams played! The A team won 3-1. In the last match, it was tied and if the A team won the match, then they would win the Play offs, but sadly at the end of the time they lost 2 nil! In the end they came second and our other Greenfields team came fourth but they never gave up! They were a good team to play against! Well done everyone!

Our visit to Crucial Crew

Crucial Crew is a training camp for training soldiers but has different activities to teach you about health and safety skills. There are 13 different life activities to teach children how to survive life.

When we went to crucial crew on Tuesday 11th June. We did lots of
different scenarios like go in a smoke tent, Alcohol room, Abandoned dogs room and lots more. The room I am telling you about is the Alcohol room. It taught us things about when we drink alcohol it ruins' our body inside of us. Like it damages the organs. The lady who taught us proved we could have nice drinks without alcohol. The amount that adults should have is woman 2-3 men 3-4 units a day.
By Elise Evans

In Crucial Crew  we did many fun things such as the smoke tent the drug tent and many more . I’m here to tell you about the drug tent there was a 16 year old women who offered us a party with our friends tonight . Most of us said ok but somewhere sensible and didn’t take the offer. we were offered cocaine cigerates  these are our pics. By Lewis

:The smoke tent!
Yesterday when we went to crucial crew, one of the activities was the smoke tent…
Before we entered we were all very nervous, (we thought we were going to choke!)
But then the instructor reassured us, that it was sugar smoke!
The main purpose was to teach us how to escape during a fire.
Do YOU have a fire alarm?
Do YOU have an escape route?
Do YOU know how to survive a fire?
Well here’s how…
1) Stay low!
2) Don’t stop to collect personal belongings!
3) Don’t panic
4) And get out as soon as possible!
By Poppy, Emily and Ella

At the end of the day, we were all given a goodie bag and the famous Crucial Crew T-shirt each!

CRICKET

On Tuesday the 4th of June at the Shrewsbury cricket club we had a cricket tournament and we were against all  different schools like Saint Giles,Saint Georges and Crowmore and we won  two games out of  7.This was the year six team and from our school there was a year five team and girl' s year six team . In our team there was Jacob, Aaron, Liam, CallumR, Adrian, Louis, Sam and Callum E. We came third in Shropshire and we all had a great time at Cricket.

From Jacob and Aaron :) :)
Greenfields fundraising mix
On Wednesday 12th June Maple, Ash and Chestnut classes organized their own stalls in groups for the whole school to have a go at. There were many events from sponge Mr Kenyon to $treet dance skool! People loved our stalls and had a great time. Many people made over fifteen pounds and raised the schools prophet. Each stall was 20p and we ended up with a great amount of cash!!! The ‘Sponge Mr Kenyon’ alone raised £47.50!
What stall would you have done¿

Unusual Story

As a table we wrote an.....interesting story! We took turns saying random sentences until it turned into an odd piece of writing.

Pink writing = Mya
Purple writing = Grace
Red writing = Isaac
Dark green writing = Amy
Light green writing = Ethan
Ester helped and her writing is in black.

We went on a school trip today. It was the museum we visited, but it was not quite how we expected it would be. In fact it was quite the opposite. As soon as we arrived, surprises jumped up before our eyes.
The moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were going to hate every moment of it. Suddenly, out of the blue cheese, cheddar warriors wielding wednesleydale swords came and attacked- our friend Isaac was not amused by the happenings. We all froze to the spot, wandering if all of this was a massive wind-up. The cheese still proceeded, and we all knew we had to run. Being the brave, if not stupid one of the group, Harry called the angry cheddar to halt.
Unfortunately, the cheddar chose to ignore Harry’s attempt to stop him and he continued to pursue us down the old museum corridors. As we ran, we realised the floor was lined with warm ,toasted bagels, so suddenly Sam G came up with a brilliant idea to defeat/eat the cheese warriors. So we began to take on the huge challenge of eating masses of cheese and bagels.
To cut things short, our plan failed, later the teacher was hovering above a steaming pot of philadelphia and we all knew we were soon to follow...

Tag Rugby Winners!

On Tuesday 4th June, we went to Belvidere School for a Tag rugby tournament with Liam, Callum, Matty,Adrian, Gracie, Dana, Jade, Cayla, Owen and Ceri. We played three games and the first one was against Mereside and we won 8-2. The next game was against Crowmoor and we won again 7-3. The last game we played was St Giles and we won 4-1. Everyone played amazingly well.  Victory was ours and the cup was coming home with us!!

Team number one is called “Team Fearless” and the other is called “Team Spectrum”.Team Fearless made paper bead bracelets whilst Team Spectrum made biscuits. Heres the link to their blog:

My Driving Lesson.

On Sunday, I went to Birmingham, to have a driving lesson at Young Drivers. Young Drivers was brought to the UK, because most people crash on the first six months of getting their licence, so if young children, under the age of 17 start now, they hopefully won’t crash! There was an instructor next to me, telling me what to do, and he called me “The cone Murderer!” because I ran over all the cones. My instructor had a clutch and brake on his side, and he also called me the  “Speedy one!” It was so much fun, I will definitely do it again!

Maths Games with Year 4 and 5!!

Last week us Year Sixes taught the Year 4 and 5s how to play some maths games!! Here is some of the games that we taught them: 7 Puzzle, Mathematically Possible, Shut The Box, Impossible Cubes, Maths Magic and loads and loads more!! I (Molly) played Mathematically Possible with the children! The aim of this game is to get the highest score possible! They pick a card of the top of the pile. (They can use the four operations + - x  ÷ to get the highest score they can possibly get.) On your card there will be three numbers, you can use each number ONCE. Then once you think you have got the highest number, you put your counter on top of the number on the playing board.
Lucy and I (Lauren W) did Shut The Box and we played it with the Year 4 and 5s, it was really fun! Also they played some other amazing Maths games that we listed above! How to play: First, we told them what to do. Then they got two dice and they had to get the right number to get the blocks down. If you didn't get the right numbers, you couldn’t knock them down so you had to pass the dice around until the person knocked the last block down.

Our visit to the Mayor - by Isaac

On Wednesday, our class's School Councillor and Eco Councillor went to see the Mayor of the town with the other Eco and School councillors, as well as three teachers. We left school at lunch time and headed for the Mayors Parlour at Shrewsbury Castle, which was only about a mile away. When we arrived we met the Mayor (John Tandy) and the Lady Mayoress. He guided us around the Castle and showed us his own private parlour, which was a great privalage as it is normally only open on special occasions. Next, everyone went to the Mayors Parlour at the Guildhall, which is the main council building in our town. Here he showed us all the old Mayors photographs, some pictures dating back to the 70s. Then we went to his other Parlour and Mr Mayor (that is what we had to call him!) showed us his formal clothes. It was basically a long red coat with fur sowed into the cloth, and a long hat that looked like a beak from a bird! He also showed us his trophy cabinet, where some pieces of silver dated back to the Tudors. All the children had a great trip and enjoyed both of the Mayor's Parlours.

Grace's 100 Word Challenge - Week 28

Golden and inticing, beautiful and enchanting, the jewel-encrusted door beckoned me.  I had to open it! My hand rested on the doorknob, the design on it was most peculiar. A sparkling dragon with ruby wings; emerald eyes; a dimond tail and a marvellous golden body.
Delicatly I twisted it and the sound was deafining! A giant mix of whispers and secrets, laughs and scowls. Everything you could ever hear in one, bubbling potion. Confused, I attempted to close it again but only white stood there.  Where the manor had stood, where everything had stood, now was completely blank.

Callum's 100 Word Challenge - Week 28

The noise was deafening....I was running from the monsterous beast. His roar was deafening! The beast was about twice the size of me, he was above my head.  Terrified, scared and worried, I kept running for my life. I thought to myself, "Can I make it out alive?" Will I see my family again?" Lots of questions were going through my mind, I couldn't answer a single question.  I was heading towards the school, hoping I would be safe there. The beast was gaining.  Can I make it? I kept thinking that. I was at the school, I was safe for now....

Karis's 100 Word challenge - Week 28

It was Friday the thirteenth. As I opened my eyes I glared at the dark, looming scene around me.  Scared and worried, tired and cold, I sat on the metal roof, still.  The skies were grey and I had lost all hope.  My home was destroyed, my family were dead and my life was over.  An icy, cold tear rolled down my shameful face.  I sat next to my brother and held my hand on his cheek. He was gone.  As I clambered out of the burned rubble.  Screams ran through my head the noise was deafening. No more life!

An Island Adventure

Our topic this term is 'An Island Adventure' and we have been writing adventure stories, creating letters in a bottle, making 3D islands and all sorts of other things.
Part of our topic was to find out about an island and work in groups to research the human and geographical features of it.  We had to present to the rest of the class.  Each group did this and so we all learned about new islands from each other.

Mrs Prior thought our presentations were really good and even she learnt a lot.

Here are some facts you may not know.
Did you know......
1. St Helena is the second most remote island in the world.
2. Hawaii has more visitors in ten days that Tahiti gets in one year.
3. The elephant bird used to live in Jamaica but is now extinct.  It was the heaviest bird in the world.
4. Tristan De Cunha has the most active volcano in the world.
5. Madagascar is located in the Indian ocean.

Our D-L conference!

Our D-L conference!
Yesterday all the Digital Leaders went to Shropshire's IT conference. To talk about our digital lives at school and home...We also did a number of workshops about Promethean's latest equipment. This includes the Active-board 7 series, and a new active table which was just like a huge iPad on legs!

When we arrived we got strait to business and started our first workshop, (we had to do a lot of these!) Then we had a quick break with juice and biscuits. Then we were of again with another workshop! Now we had to our BIG conference about our digital lives...Dun. Dun. DUNNNNN..... We talked about things such
as: Creative tech, like google scetch up and google apps. Next we talked about what digital leaders are and much, much, more...  We were all extremely nervous, yet excited. Once we had finished, it was time for lunch, a big buffet. As our day drew to a close, we still had another workshop to do, however soon we had to leave...

When we got back to school we had another surprise in store. Mr Dark, (the Promethean man) had got us all Easter eggs for all our hard work!!! We all had great fun!

Molly's 100 Word Challenge Week 23

I stumbled across the dusty room.  All memories were now flooding back.  Books and battered cabinets lay all around me.
This was my old life.  I was separated from my mother many years ago after a dreadful car crash.  I have never seen her since.  Not that mysterious cat we used to see.
Worried and scared, nervous and therefore afraid, I entered the bath- room, which was now mould-covered.  It was the same.....the orange soap we used to buy was still there....nothings changed.  If only I could have my mother back, if only I could have my life back, then my heart would be healed.

Grace's 100 Word Challenge Week 23

Warm and inticing, relaxing and calm, the bath beckoned me but neithertheless I separated from it. There were more important things to do. Remembering to feed Baker, the family cat, I braced myself for the harsh, bitter coldness. If there was a reason not to be a detective, if there was a reason not to be a human, that was it. I bit my lip and I thought about the case.
Ten years ago a rich, hard-working family found a child (or at least, a youth) dead on their doorstep. They claimed it was 'more mysterious why she wore an orange minidress than if she was alive!' They didn't know she was my sister......

Harvey's 100 Word Challenge Week 23

Two weeks ago I was in the bath. Warm and cosy, clean and calm. My soft, furry cat quietly purring by the door. Orange soap suds floating on the still, blue-tinted water. The window, slowly letting through warm, dusty beams of light, dancing on the floor as the trees got blown about by the warm summer wind. All a dream, lost in a haze of memories that would make you cry. It's different now. Much different. Up here, separated, lost in space. With only three minuites of life left. Three minutes of oxygen. Life is so mysterious.

Parents prepare yourselves!

Obstacle course before.....and after!

The maze

Some of us have been down the maze. It's a love it or loathe it kind of activity. We look happy though!

Mud, glorious mud!

We're a bit muddy!

Day Four - A wet day

Today is very wet and rainy but our activities carry on regardless! Some of us have been in the underground maze, some of us doing survival skills, confidence course, orienteering and initiative exercises (we have lots of initiative now!) We are all having fun even in the wet and had a great time at the disco - Samuel A and Elise won the awards for 'best dancer'.  We can't believe that today is our last full day! We will see you all tomorrow!

Day Three - Wednesday

We can't believe it is day 3 already! Last night done of us did rifle shooting and the instructor was very impressed with our aim. Liam, Matty and Harvey were a brilliant shot. Today, some of us have been in the underground maze. That is a little like marmite - you either love it or hate it.
Others of us have completed the confidence chose and every one of Mrs Prior's group completed it with NO FEAR!
We've been climbing, doing initiative exercises and archery too. Karis was so powerful with the bow, she shot into the trees and we all had to hunt for her missing arrow.
This evening, it is time to shower (a first for some!) ;) spruce up and we're off to the disco.
The messages to you all from us are "it's fun" and "it's great"
Goodbye for now..

Day Two

We have had a very busy day! We all went down to the lake this morning four canoeing and kayaking. Most if us managed to stay dry but a few(!) fell in (Karis, Dylan, Charlotte and Emily) The weather was lovely and kind to us. After lunch, it was survival skills, zip wire, confidence course, abseiling or rifles depending on which group we are in. Everyone is really well behaved and all are very happy. They are all joining in the activities and trying lots of things. Hope everything is fine back home and you are not missing us too much! Thank you for your coments - keep them coming!

We are here! We arrived this afternoon to plenty of sunshine and after settling into our dorms and a fire drill, we were off on our first activity. Two groups did abseiling which was lots of fun. some conquered their fears and did really well. After, tea we were back out in the (freezing)! cold for fencing, zipwire or rifle shooting. We have settled in nicely and can't wait for the rest of the week.

We've made the Create-It awards shortlist!

Well done to the boys who made this amazing E-safety video - they've been shortlisted for the KS2 E-safety category at the Create-It awards. That means they're in the top three out of the whole county - a brilliant achievement!

Inspirational posters! by Mya and Ethan

Today, we all created posters for Darwin day. Our focus was 'growthability' and to grow our personality and ourselves, we had to take risks. We looked at when taking a risk was a good idea or just a dare. Firstly, we wrote down our biggest risks and ordered them according to how big the risk was. Next, we re-ordered them to see which risk benefited us the most (which was the most worthwhile risk). After that, we made posters on the computers telling everyone how to be confident in yourself and recognize good risks.

Going to Manor Adventure!!

GOING TO MANOR!!! On Monday the year six students from Ash and Maple class are going to MANOR ADVENTURE in Craven Arms. We have been told where we are sleeping and what activities. Some of the activities include; Abseiling, Shooting, Canoeing/kyacking, Confidence Course and much more! I am looking forward to the Under Ground Maze, because I love mazes and dark places. However, it will be a bit wet because apparently it has ankle deep water! Also the confidence course sounds really scary, yet if you don't take the risk then you will never know if you like it or not. when we are at manor we will hopefully be posting some pictures. wish us luck!!!! by Isaac and Amy

Ester's 100 Word Challenge Week 21

My mum and I were on our way to misty’s when she slammed the breaks on, so the car stopped suddenly. “I’ve hit a fox!” she screamed as she tore her seat-belt off and flew outside. I did the same. Scampering around the car I could hear her sobbing. “It’s deeeaaad!”
I sped up and when I reached her all I could do was comfort her until sudden realization gripped me. The fox was alive, its chest rising and falling rhythmically “MUM, It’s alive!”
“No, it can’t be”
Hurriedly, I placed her hand on its chest. “See! It needs a vet, and fast!”…

Amber's 100 Word challenge Week 21

The car stopped suddenly. Flash back. Well it all started earlier today. I was in the middle of a maths lesson and two boys were throwing paper at me so I was about to hit one of them but they ducked and it hit the teacher. At the end of the maths lesson I got really told off.  The boys have been bullying me for two weeks now. At the end of the day, I was on my way to catch the bus and the boys came and pushed me into the road. scared and worried, upset and hopeless, I lay in the hospital bed.

Sam's 100 word challenge Week 21

I woke up to the sound of hustling and bustling in our house, I opened my eyes. My parents had forgotten their alarm clocks.
“We were meant to be going on holiday today, to New York!”
We speeded down the stairs and got in the car. My Dad pressed down on the pedal and away we went, speeding through the cars, vans and lorries. Then I saw a sign for London Heathrow T2 so we drove through the gate. Then the car stopped suddenly, we all jerked forwards when we stopped. So we rushed into the airport. We caught the plane just in time...

Charlotte's 100 Word challenge Week 21

I was exhausted: I had ran from the kidnapper.
The car stopped suddenly... Worried and scared, tired and cold, I ran as fast as I could to get away. I fell! I gave up, they had me. If only I did what mum said, if I only hid and screamed for help, then I wouldn’t be in this mess.
The large, scary man grabbed me before I could blink. He put me in his bag. The only fragrance of his car was; Coconuts! Where was he taking me? I was worried-sick. “Bye life...” He shoved me in a warm, smokey room. I was blindfolded [and choking!] It was my mum’s boyfriend...

Gracie's 100 Word Challenge Week 21

"Catch it!"
"Well done" said the team captain Tom, sarcastically.
I was on the floor disappointed and frustrated, annoyed yet scared, I didn't know what they where going to do to me.
I leaped on to my feet and ran back home, not looking were I was going. Running across the road, I kept looking back, they were right behind me... CRASH!!!! The car stopped suddenly. I was in the middle of the road DEAD!!! Then the team captain Tom whispered "It was all my folt, why did we chase him?...

Charlotte 100 Word Challenge - Week 18

It was a foggy day, I was wondering around the graveyard. As soon as i got up, the church bells rang. I looked at my phone for the time. It was nine minutes past seven. It was a sign! Suddenly, out of the blue came a shower of meteors! I ran and screamed. Then came hundreds of infected zombies...

I was taken to hospital, and I had a blue band on my hand. I walked around, and found I was alone. Then I saw a T.V with the news on it.
“And any human with a red band is infected,  BAD!”
Suddenly I heard feet running around, and I saw red bands all around the floor...

Poppy's 100 Word Challenge - Week 18

As I strolled down the street, the sun was shining brightly. I was humming my favourite song, Hey Jude. Suddenly out of the blue the sky started turning black! Dark clouds hid the sky and it started raining heavily, but this wasn't rain it was oil. Meanwhile, the trees were dying and the
grass was turning brown. All the natural things were being destroyed, yet everything man made was growing. This was my worst nightmare, I love the natural world. What should I do? I ran back to my house. the world was falling apart. This was the end...

Callum's 100Word Challenge - Week 18

Monday 17th April, 1999, that’s when the disaster happened. That’s when I got kidnapped and now I’ve been in this spooky house ever since. That happened two years ago, I miss all my family and friends but I will get back, one day.

Two years early, out of the blue he came at me, he said to me “ Are you ready?” What for? I’m still figuring that out, now. The next thing I knew, I was in this house, the house that I am in today. I was locked in my empty bedroom with only a blanket to sleep with. My biggest nightmare...

Mya's 100 Word Challenge - Week 17

I was running through the forest, the key grasped tightly in my fingers. I ran to the green camouflage door. I shoved the key in the lock and it opened with a creek. Terror washed over me as I saw what was behind the door. Skulls and bones from past centuries covered the tunnels. Vines weaved between eye sockets. My jaw dropped, so did the key, at that moment a shadow crept over me, darkening my path. I let out a scream. I froze on the spot with fear- I wanted to move but I was so scared. So scared.

Poppy's 100 Word Challenge - Week 17

As I stared into the distance my mind buzzed with thoughts, should I go and find it, or should I just ‘let it be’? You see I was walking in the garden, when I found this ancient-looking chest with key, I tried to pick it up, (as you would,) and it completely disappeared! But now I’ve been sent up to my room by foster parents. They thought I was crazy when I tried to explain, that this could our big chance. Our time to shine, we could in the newspaper, on TV, everything! I’m out ‘a here…

Liam's 100 Word Challenge - Week 17

Hello my friends, no one’s probably read this but let me carry on. I live in a farm, poor, no way to get money, well that’s what I thought anyway! So let’s start, it was a terrible windy storm day. But Me my Mum, Dad and were at the cheapest shop we could find. The island bay. I hate that shop! So I went to the outside garden. I was searching around. But as I was searching, I saw a key. I picked it up and blew it. I saw an address on it. “NOOOOOOO,LET ME HAVE THAT KEY!”

Lauren W's 100 Word Challenge - Week 17

I saw that some thing was going on in the woods it looked like a fire but I don't know what it was so I took a little trip to a the woods when I heard, “Oi come here!” I thought my home is a minuet away I could just run but I wearing high heels. So of course I had to the fast walk so then BANG! I tripped over and… My worse night mare came true I was lost. My keys my phone—wait my KEYS! I needed them . But I was too late my house was in smoke all my belongings in the dump what could I do ?...

Isaac's 100 Word Challenge - Week 17

“I’m doing wrong, I know I am. The barn is empty, I think…” Those words came into my head as I stepped into the barn with the Victorian key. My mind was playing with my heart, I could feel it. Dad would not be happy with me if he found out I was searching for his most precious possession. As I rummaged through the ‘junk’ my eye caught a box with a keyhole. The key fitted. As I turned the key in the lock, I fainted at the sight of what was inside…

Aaron's 100 Word Challenge - Week 17

There I was just sitting there glaring at the key, waiting for something to happen. Then suddenly the shiny gold key started to move. I blinked 1 nothing happened. I blinked 2 nothing happened. I blinked 3 times then it had gone… I had been looking for it for ages but it was nowhere to be found. I had one more look around the house. I still couldn’t find it then something banged on the door. I didn’t no weaver to answer it or not, so I opened it the key was there it said “come with me now”………

100 Word Challenge - Week 16 by Emelia

I opened the door and stepped out into the crispy, white snow.Frost covered the window's. All around was silence and everything was still, not a soul in sight. I crept back inside the house and closed the door. My bedroom was the place I went back to. Couple of hours later, I got up once more. I thought at this time someone must be up. I peered out the window. The grass which was once green, was no longer. I whipped the window clear and now I could see the caravan had disappeared. Surely that was to heavy to pull. I started running and never stopped.

100 Word Challenge - Week 16 by Grace

Heavy footsteps. Running. Towards me! I’m stuck – frozen solid. He’s pushing me. I’m falling. Covered in the frosting like snow that’s coming from the sky. The whole, colourful caravan shook, waking up Water, my pet dog. Some dogs are stupid; others (like Water) are very clever. Before Water I had a stupid ,or at least silly, dog called Green. Water’s an Irish Wolfhound so he loved going for walks. At that moment he bounded outside like his life depended on it. I shook my head glumly, slipped my jumper and went to join him. The sight I saw was terrifying…

Green to White - by The Snowleopards

Snow you fall, oh so beautiful
Land so quiet and with grace
Feel so soft beneath our feet
Fall so silent in the night
Ready for excitable children in the morning
Snowflakes your so cold
Children play, having fun
As you fall all day long

As people walk across you, footprints melt into the ground. The paws of puppies and feet of children walk across your blanket of white.

Children having fun all day in the snow
Snowmen are built everywhere.
Snow-balls in the air hitting children ,
People sledging  down the mountains
Lots of people having fun in the snow

Ice is like snow but more cold and ice is harder than snow
If you make a ice ball this will hurt snow is white but ice is like glass.
You can have snow storms but not ice storms.

The snowman’s faces fade away
And the beautiful blanket starts to melt
Children smiles turn into frowns
As your sparkling white turns into dirty grey
No more sledging
No snowball fights
That is the end of  snow

A Snowman's world - by The Winter Wonders

The tears of white
Fall from the sky
Then drift to the earth
As snow.

It comes from the heavens,
Then falls without sound
Sometimes staying,
Sometimes melting away.

When it lands upon your glove,
 Your shoulder or your hat,
Take a look and you will see,
Not one is quite the same.

Each and every snowflake,
Has its very own look,
Try to catch two the same,
I give you my word you will not succeed.

Children play with snow,
They make some snowballs and attack,
People play with the icy crystals,
Jumping in its joy.

In the slowly melting snow Children play,
Throwing snow and laughing,
Meeting everyone you know,
It will soon go.

Your sparkling white skin is so ice cold,
Although your frozen heart is strong and bold.
You have a hat a scarf  some gloves and a coat,
Letting the  falling snowflakes change to float.

Your glistening coal eyes soften the scene,
Leaving your beautiful carrot nose to make you gleam.
With your pressed in mouth that makes you smile,
Your kind hearted creators made it worthwhile.

Staring at the sun that flames with fire,
Loving your short life with desire
That bright, bright light is the evil wrath
Leaving you melted in the path.
